The only trick is to avoid conflicting user settings. You can change between different DEs in linux, since the GUI is just another program. The default amount is fine for a Linux server, but not for any desktop. Be certain to provide the maximum allowed GPU-RAM.
Gnome is fairly bloated, so it will likely have bad performance compared to almost any other DE in that situation.

If you want a full Unix/Linux GUI on a system running MS-Windows, use a virtual machine like virtualbox and install a normal Linux distro. You'll need to run an X/Server as a Windows program. Start11 is the latest iteration of the StartX utilities from Stardock, which shipped similar Start8 and Start10 utilities as throwback UIs to earlier versions of the Windows operating system after Windows 8 and Windows 10 launched, respectively. But if you’d like a more gentle transition between Windows 10 and Windows 11, Start11 certainly helps.
